About us
At Chinwag Theatre, our aims are to:
 |
devise, write, facilitate and perform original and exciting community theatre productions and workshops for young people and adults. |
|
use theatre to provide a voice and a means of creative expression for socially disadvantaged members of the community. |
|
create excitement and enthusiasm for theatre in our community. |
|
work with young people and adults, using forum theatre techniques and interactive drama as a means of education, training and empowerment. |
|
work in mainstream education institutions, theatres, the public sector and with members of the community who are excluded from mainstream education, culture or employment. (eg: Young people who have been excluded from school, young offenders, prisoners, young people in care, the homeless, asylum seekers, refugees). |
|
encourage honest discussion and debate about issues which affect our community. |
|
equip people with the skills and confidence needed to make a positive contribution to their community. |
|
provide the knowledge, strategies and ability for people to understand, value and support diversity in education, the work place and the wider community.
|
|
work in partnership with other organizations or individuals with similar aims wherever appropriate or necessary.
